Web 3.0 in Built Environment

Web 3.0 in Built Environment

SITE: Flemington

TIME: 2024.03

INSTRUCTOR: Mr. Akihito HATAYAMA

Our digital world is slowly moving towards an environment where over-centralization of ‘Big Tech’ is replaced with a more ‘democratic’ version of the internet. Arguably speculative and not always successful, the idea of Web3 is being tested through blockchain technologies, NFT’s and token-based economics. This approach of a ‘new’ internet that can empower ordinary people and break down existing power structures, is consistent with broader ideas in our current communities. As designers we are very interested to understand how this direction can influence design processes, design outcomes or even the industry itself.
